Photos are shoot on Ile St. Helene and Ile Notre Dame, two full of fun islands facing Old Port Montreal, on the St. Lawrence river. Ile Notre Dame is man made island featuring racing track and the casino while Ile St. Helene among others hosts Biosphere – an environment museum, La Ronde amusement park and in summer month hosts outdoor concerts.

We heard few versions about, why Dragon Boat Race, and one of them would be;
Chinese mythology tells us story about the poet by name Chu Yuan who committed suicide by drowning in a river. The villagers took to the river on boats decorated with dragons and beat the drums to scare away evil spirits from poet’s body.
Today’s racers have their boats decorated with dragons, drummer and drum accompanies each boat same as it happened for the first time around 280BC.
