On the almost vertical slopes of the Biokovo mountain, rising from the Adriatic sea you’ll find Brela, another jewel in southern part of Dalmatian coastline. Brela is located around 50km south from Split the largest city in Dalmatia (photos), Croatia (map), and also around an hour drive from Dubrovnik (photos).
Once a fishing village, today Brela are prime tourist destination with splendid few kilometers long beach. Brela it is one of half a dozen tourist places surrounding city of Makarska (15km south from Brela).

Biokovo mountain with its highest peak, St. Jure at 1762m has few hiking paths going to few other of it’s peaks from most of the towns on Makarska riviera (photos). To get exact location of this paths it would be recommended to buy on any of newsstands City Guide to Makarska riviera. It’s written in few languages (2005).
Just off the coast are some of the most beautiful Croatian Islands (map), Brac, Hvar (photos) and Korcula.
